- Importance of surgical suturing in wound healing
- Overview of suture materials: Absorbable vs. Non-absorbable
- Needle types: Shapes, sizes, and applications
- Principles of aseptic technique in surgery
Practical (2.5h):
- Aseptic technique: Washing, gowning, gloving
- Handling surgical instruments (needle holders, forceps, scissors, etc.)
- Practicing simple interrupted sutures on simulated skin pads
- Interactive learning with active corrections
Day 2 – Precision in Suturing: Techniques & Applications

Basic Surgical Skills – Workshop Series
This six-day workshop series is designed for students eager to learn and refine fundamental surgical skills.
Organized by students with the guidance of Dr. Michalina Ciosek, the series emphasizes hands-on training and clinical readiness.

Participants: Only 12 spots available
Eligibility: Open to 3rd- and 4th-year medical students (ED & PD)
Participation Requirement: Attendance at all six workshops is mandatory to receive certification.
Workshop Objectives
✔️ Hands-on training in fundamental suturing techniques
✔️ Developing proficiency in instrument handling, tissue approximation, and wound closure
✔️ Understanding principles of hemostasis, tissue recognition, and decision-making
✔️ Preparing students to assist effectively in the operating room (OR)
Evaluation & Certification
📌 Participants will be assessed through practical skill evaluations
📌 A certificate of completion will be awarded upon successful demonstration of proficiency
